The truffle: who has never tried this prized fungus?! How many, however, actually know how it is sought and harvested? This is how truffle hunting was born. This experience, which can be tried in various regions, reaches its maximum expression in Molise. Here, in fact, most of the truffles found nationwide are hunted, around 40 per cent. This makes Molise the true land of truffles in Italy.

To be enjoyed raw with a tagliatella or making a carpaccio, in a sauce or minced, it lends itself to many combinations and there are numerous restaurants offering dishes with the different qualities of truffle.
Before it can be enjoyed, however, it must be hollowed out.

An experience worth trying, therefore, is truffle hunting proposed by Di Iorio Tartufi, in the municipality of Busso (CB).

Truffle hunting program

Arrival at the company, located at Via Alessandro Manzoni, 51 in Busso (CB), is scheduled at 10:00. After a welcome coffee, a brief presentation of the activities and a visit to the museum on the premises, accompanied by the scent of truffles, the actual experience begins.

Once we have picked up the dog (a Lagotto, a perfect breed for truffle hunting) and given it a few strokes, we set off in our own car to a nearby forest. There the hound shows all his skills, often finding several truffles in a short time

Back at the farm, while waiting for an aperitif or lunch to be prepared (two different types of tasting are possible), one can visit the workshop where the truffle is prepared.

Once at the table, then, a feast for the taste buds. Truffles everywhere, from cheeses to bruschetta, sliced meats, egg and even tagliatelle with mushrooms if you choose the full tasting.

An experience to try at least once, in close contact with the Molise territory and the excellent products it knows how to produce.
